My TAG Was Not Approved

  • Can I appeal my TAG decision?

No. All TAG decisions are final, and appeals will not be considered. However, you may still be a competitive candidate for regular admission to UCR without the promise provided by a UCR TAG.

We encourage you to work with your community college counselor to review your situation and to determine whether you should file the UC application for the upcoming fall cycle or for a future term.

  • I believe that there has been a mistake regarding my TAG decision. What should I do?

We encourage you to apply to UCR for the upcoming fall admission cycle or for a future term by submitting your UC application during the application submission period. Use the comment field to tell us why you think a mistake has been made.

UCR gives every application a thorough review and evaluation. Although all TAG decisions are final and appeals will not be considered, you may still be eligible and competitive for admission to UCR through the regular application process.

  • What if I don't understand the reason that my TAG was denied?

Please review the UCR TAG requirements and then visit your community college counselor to discuss your circumstances. Your counselor may advise you to file the UC application for the upcoming fall admission cycle or for a future term.

  • Am I eligible to apply for fall admission to UCR without a TAG?

We encourage you to visit your community college counselor to review your circumstances and determine whether you should apply for the upcoming regular fall admission cycle or for a future term.

  • Can I submit a UCR TAG for a future term? What happens to the TAG information I already submitted?

Absolutely! We urge you to submit a TAG for admission next fall or later, and encourage you to use the upcoming year to discuss your academic plan with your community college counselor, continue to complete coursework toward your UCR major, and meet the academic requirements for a UCR TAG.

To update your TAG application for a future term, log in to the UC Transfer Admission Planner and make any necessary changes, including the term for your future TAG. As information changes between now and the TAG filing period in September, you can return to your UC Transfer Admission Planner and make appropriate changes to your personal information, coursework, and grades.
