UCR welcomes incoming first-year students each fall. The fall admission application opens on Aug. 1, and the application filing period is Oct. 1-Dec. 2.
Admission to UCR is selective. To be eligible for admission, California high school students are required to fulfill the "a–g" requirements with a minimum 3.0 GPA, though are encouraged to strive for a higher GPA. Out-of-state high school students need to complete these courses with a minimum 3.4 GPA.
UCR will not consider SAT or ACT test scores when making admission decisions or awarding scholarships. If students choose to submit test scores as part of their application, test scores may be used as an alternative method of fulfilling minimum requirements for eligibility or for course placement after students enroll. Learn more about UC's testing policy.

For Community College Counselors
UCR welcomes incoming transfer students each fall and winter. The winter admission application opens on July 1, and the application filing period is July 1–31. The fall admission application opens on Aug. 1, and the application filing period is Oct. 1–Dec. 2.
As a top-ranking university, UCR sets high admission standards. Incoming transfer students are selected based on a wide range of criteria, including academic performance and the potential for success as an undergraduate.
California Community College students can use their coursework and grades to guarantee their entry to UCR with the Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG)! Here's how:
1.
Create a Transfer Admission Planner (TAP). TAP is an online tool where your students can track and plan the community college coursework they need to complete to be admitted to UCR. It's also their TAG application! Encourage your students to build their TAP today!
2.
Satisfy the TAG Requirements. To qualify for TAG, your students need to complete a minimum of 30 UC-transferrable units in community college. Those units include first and second semesters of English composition, and the minimum math required by their major. Each major also has GPA requirements, which are outlined on our Transfer Admissions page.
3.
Submit the TAG Application. UCR offers fall and winter quarter admission to transfer students. Before applying for admission, your students need to log in to their TAP to complete the UCR TAG application within the filing period for their chosen quarter: May 1–31 for winter admission; Sept. 1–30 for fall admission.
4.
Complete the TAG Contract. Your students will get ready to transfer to UCR by taking the classes necessary to complete a total of 60 UC-transferrable units in community college. This will include any prep courses specified by their major. They also have to satisfy their GPA requirements!
5.
Apply to UCR. All that's left for your student to do is to submit their UCR application within the filing period for their chosen quarter: July 1–31 for winter admission; Oct. 1–Dec. 2 for fall admission. Visit go.ucr.edu/apply when it's time to apply.
